How do we choose pigment for semi-permanent makeup?
Picking the right permanent pigment colour for your brows, lips or eyeliner
Different skin types and its effect on pigment
Every skin reacts differently to semi-permanent makeup. Whether you have oily, dry, combination, thick, or thin skin, the way it absorbs pigment can vary. For example, dry skin tends to absorb pigment easier, while oily or thick skin may require additional passes or sessions to get the same level of saturation. In rare cases, certain skin conditions, like inflammation, or scar tissue, may reject the pigment completely.
Factors that may affect how long a permanent makeup lasts
The lifespan of semi-permanent makeup depends on skin type, metabolism, health, lifestyle, and tanning. People with thicker or oily skin may find that their permanent makeup fades faster, while those with dry skin or a healthy lifestyle can enjoy their look for years. Usually, semi-permanent makeup tattooed with a machine lasts 2-5 years, while microblading tends to last around 6-12 months. Blood thinning medication or conditions like hypothyroidism may reduce the longevity of your results.

How do we match pigment colour for brows, lips, and eyeliner?
When choosing the perfect pigment colour for your semi-permanent makeup we need to consider your skin type, skin colour, skin tone (warm, cool, neutral), and the technique (powder, hair strokes etc). On your eyebrows, the colour may look darker and warmer immediately after, but as your skin heals, it will get cooler and closer to the target colour. We often choose colour that matches your hair. Similar with lips, the results may look bright red immediately after, but over time colour changes to your chosen shade.
Patch testing before semi-permanent makeup
Safety is very important to us. That’s why we patch test during your consultation to rule out any allergic reactions or sensitivities to the pigments. Our pigments are safe, but the patch test gives us peace of mind that your skin will respond well to the procedure.
By carefully choosing the right pigment and understanding your skin type, you can get beautiful, natural and long-lasting results with semi-permanent makeup.
