What is tear trough filler?

It is a hyaluronic acid filler treatment that fills hollows under the eyes. These hollow areas can create shadows that make the area look darker.

Does tear trough filler help dark circles?

It can help if the darker shadows come from the area looking hollow. It won’t correct dark circles caused by pigmentation or visible blood vessels, and it isn’t suitable for every type of under eye concern.

Can tear trough filler be dissolved?

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. This may help to resolve persistent puffiness if it is caused by the filler (for example too much filler was used).

However, dissolving filler won’t remove natural under eye bags, loose skin or malar bags. These are different problems and need a different treatment.

Can you dissolve under eye filler I’ve had done somewhere else?

How long does tear trough filler last?

Results can last around 12 – 24 months, although this varies between clients. Under eye filler can sometimes remain for longer, so it isn’t possible to guarantee an exact duration due to different health conditions, metabolism, genetics etc.

Is there any recovery after tear trough filler?

You may have some swelling or bruising after treatment. These usually settle over the following days, but can last longer.

Like with any injectable treatments, it’s important to allow time for it to settle and heal before any important events. Tell me about any upcoming wedding, party or holiday when arranging your appointment.

When will I see the results?

You’ll see a difference straight after treatment, but swelling can affect how the area looks at first. I usually recommend reviewing the result at around two weeks, once the filler had time to settle.

What are the risks of tear trough filler?

Swelling and bruising can happen after treatment. Filler can also cause longer-lasting puffiness, which is one reason why careful assessment is so important. Rare but serious complications can occur with any filler treatment, including problems affecting the blood supply or vision.

Can tear trough filler help wrinkles or loose skin under the eyes?

If loose skin or wrinkles are your main concern, tear trough filler isn’t the right treatment. Adding filler won’t tighten loose skin, and it may make the area look heavier.

Can I wear makeup after tear trough filler?

No, not in the first 24-48 hours

Does tear trough filler hurt?

Not really, you can feel the cannula moving but it isn’t painful.
