Permanent vs semi permanent makeup in Hertfordshire
What is the difference between PMU and SPMU?
Permanent cosmetic treatments are chosen by many people every year. Semi-permanent makeup is very common these days and more people decide to have it done. Semi-permanent makeup is also more popular and available than in recent years.
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattoo, and it involves the placement of pigment in the dermal layer of the skin. Semi-permanent and permanent makeup refer to the same cosmetic procedure. The difference is in terminology and expectations. Tattooed makeup doesn’t last the lifetime, but it lasts a long time, 2-5 years, and gradually fades over time. Whether you call it semi permanent or permanent, it is important to choose a skilled technician who can give you desired look with precision and safety.

What else do you need to know
Depth of permanent makeup
Semi-permanent makeup is not tattooed as deep as the regular body tattoos. Skin on the body is thicker than skin on your forehead or eyelids. If the pigment was implanted too deep, the colour would change over time and became blue or ashy, like it changes with the regular body tattoos. This is why the body tattoos last forever and permanent or semi permanent makeup does not.
How long does it last?
How long the permanent makeup lasts mostly depends on the skin type of a client, and their health and metabolism. Other factors like your lifestyle may influence it too. If you exercise a lot your faster metabolism will remove “foreign matter” from the body.
Does SPMU fade quicker than PMU?
No, it does not but certain techniques fade much quicker than others. For example, microblading. Microblading should disappear from your skin in about 6-12 months. Machine permanent makeup should last 2-5 years, but neither of these techniques is truly permanent. Machine techniques tend to last longer.
For example – a 55 year old woman with dry and thin skin will get her brows tattooed with either machine or microblade. I’m sure she’ll be enjoying her brows for a very, very long time. I can say that her brows will most definitely last much longer than 2-5 years due to her skin type, she may also not be so active due to her age and already has a slower metabolism anyway.
People with thick and oily skin, or sun damaged skin may have poorer retention of pigment, and their pmu may not last as long.
